STAND UP PORTRAITS
Nowhere in Makos' oeuvre is the process of deconstruction and reconstruction through disjoint more consistently apparent than in his "Pieced", or "Stand-Up" portraits. Begun in the earliest years of his career with subjects such as Halston and Andy Warhol, these portraits constitute perhaps the most individual and original formal innovation Makos has contributed to his chosen discipline, .and are very much part of his long-held interest in the use of multiple perspectives and repetition to achieve his objective.
